Excerpt
Nate loved blackberries. He ate lots of blackberries. The blackberries were so yummy. He ate some more. He took few more blackberries and rubbed them on his face.
He ran and looked in the mirror carefully. He looked very carefully.
“Oh wow! I look black now. Very interesting,” thought Nate. He called his mom again.
“Mommy, Mommy, Mommyyyyyy! I look black now. Maybe because I accidently rubbed some blackberries on my face.”
“Oh! Nooooo! You are right,” laughed his mother. “I think we should do some coloring after school today. You can color as much as you want in your coloring books.”
“Awesome! I love that idea,” smiled Nate.
“Now, please go and wash your face and get ready for school,” said his mom.
My Review
My Rating: # Stars

I was granted complimentary access to The World is Beautiful with Colors as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
The World is Beautiful with Colors is a cute story about a little boy who’s face keeps changing colour the morning of his first day of school. When he finally gets to school, the story becomes about how the student population is very colourful (normal human range of colours) and reveals the funny reason why this boy’s face was changing. It’s fun, the message is wholesome, and the illustrations are beautiful.
My reason for not rating this book higher is twofold. First of all, there is far too much text in a 26-page book aimed at this age group! Even for a read-aloud story, it’s a lot of text. The story felt wordy and necessarily detailed and long for what it’s meant to be. In many cases, entire paragraphs could have been single sentences. Second, this kid’s vocabulary is too mature and proper for his age. For example, “I experienced that this morning.” “That is so unusual.” “Wonderful, I love to walk.” I was the obnoxiously bright kid in school who made sure everyone knew that I knew a big word back in first grade, and I didn’t speak like that in elementary school at any point.
With all of that said, I do think this would make a great book for teachers who let their students guess what’s going on, or try to help tell the story, and I think it has a great message about inclusiveness.

When she is not writing, she spends most of her time reading, gardening and cooking. Her dishes are amazing, fantastic, beautiful, and delicious, just like her writing.
