I was granted complimentary access to Andy Gets Angry by Mike J Masse as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you for all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
Andy Gets Angry is the story of a boy named Andy who allows the things that annoy or distress him to push him to anger, and then when he cools down he regrets the things he said or did in anger. All of that changes when he meets a man named Mindful Mike who teaches him and other kids how to relax, self-soothe, and stay calm.
This is such an important message for kids, parents, and teachers alike and offers excellent advise and calming strategies. I think this book should be in every elementary classroom, every preschool, and every afterschool care facility, as it’ll come in handy time and again as different kids need it. I would also recommend this for any parent whose child is struggling with regulating their emotions.
The artwork is beautiful! The details are stunning, but the real star of the show is the use of colour to convey heated anger and cooling calm. Beautiful! The particular illustration chosen for the cover, while appropriate to the title and plot, does not give the best indication of the fantastically moving artwork within.
