Excerpt
The world is a great, big place, with billions of people here on Earth,
And trillions of stars up in space.
It may not be easy to know right from wrong,
To feel that you fit in, or to know where you belong.
It is OK to feel confused and to be unsure of where you are going,
But here is something that is worthy of knowing:
In our world, it is important to be accepting and inclusive of each other,
While also celebrating and encouraging what makes us unique from one another.
You will learn so much along the way;
Growing up does not happen in just one day.
Remember that getting to know yourself is a very good start.
Your life is full of meaning; find the wonder that sets you apart.

I was granted complimentary access to What It Means to Be Me as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with Goddess Fish Promotions. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
What It Means to Be Me is a cute little rhyming story that teaches young preschool and early school aged kids that what makes them different and unique makes them special, and that everybody is special and unique in their own way but also share pretty cool similarities with others. For the most part I really like the pacing of this book and the amount of text per page. With that said, the intro is chunky! Most of the book is 1-2 lines of the poem per page but the intro is a whopping 12 lines on a plain white background. That’s a big ask for the target audience.
The illustrations are beautiful, vibrant, and full of life. These will surely capture the interest of target audience aged kids and keep them interested in the pages even if they’re not able to read the words for themselves yet. I like the choice to put the text on plainer pages over a pastel rainbow-type full-page pattern but since I reviewed in digital format I didn’t get to see if those pages opened up in a spread next to an illustrated page or not. Some sections had at least two such text-on-design pages in a row and I hope that just means those are back to back on the same physical sheet and both open against an illustration, but in eBook format this is going to be 2+ pages in a row without a lot of visual interest.
About the Author
Danielle Dawn Falk has a lifelong passion for writing. Growing up, she often struggled with feelings of being unaccepted, as well as not fitting in with her peers. When she became a mother, some of her goals were to help her son and daughter realize how unique and special they are, while at the same time, teaching them to show acceptance and compassion toward everyone else. She hopes that through her writing, she will inspire her children, as well as many others, to do just that.
Danielle lives with her family on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada.
