My Review
My Rating: 5 Stars
Consider liking my review on Goodreads.
I was granted complimentary access to Popper and Friends: Popper Finds a New Home by Il Ritchie as part of my participation in a blog tour for this title with iRead Book Tours. Thank you to all involved in affording me this opportunity! My thoughts are my own and my review is honest.
Popper Finds a New Home is the story of a young woodpecker named Popper who discovers that he has outgrown his childhood bed in his parents’ home and sets out to find a home of is own. As the book goes on, Popper tries all sort of potential homes and all of the other creatures living in the area help him see why each potential new home isn’t suitable for a woodpecker until he eventually solves his conundrum and settles into the perfect new place.
This book is well written, holds interest, and teaches important lessons about problem solving, community, and figuring out where you belong. I can see this book serving very well both as an at home read for families and young independent readers and also in classroom and daycare settings. It’s a little long for independent reading for very young readers, but the plot holds interest and the illustrations are compelling, so this should be a great book for storytime and guided reading for kids as young as 4 or 5.
The illustrations are charming! These colourful pages are sure to inspire a love for the story and for reading in general.
Thanks again, this was a pleasure to review!
